Karen Painter Randall is a litigation partner at Connell Foley LLP. She currently focuses her practice on complex litigation including Business Litigation, Cybersecurity, Employment Law, Construction Law, Director & Officer Litigation, Insurance Law, Product Liability and Tort Law, and Professional Liability. Ms. Randall is a veteran trial attorney in both state and federal courts. The Supreme Court of New Jersey, Board of Trial Attorney Certification designated Ms. Randall a Certified Civil Trial Attorney in 1992, 1999 and 2006 and 2012 in recognition of her trial and professional accomplishments. She serves as Chair of the firm’s Director & Officer Litigation practice group and Chair of the Professional Liability Practice Group. Ms. Randall is admitted to practice law in the United States Supreme Court, US District Court for the District Court of NJ, US District Court of Appeals, Third Circuit and State of New Jersey.
Randall was involved in filing a Petition for Writ of Certiorari with the United States Supreme Court relevant to the application of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act. The cert petition compelled the US Supreme Court to seek the view of the United States' Solicitor General- a review that rarely occurs and requires the vote of four justices. Randall apeared before the US Solicitor General, Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to argue that the Solicitor General recommend that cert be granted.
Ms. Randall has been tapped by the National and State Bar Association leadership numerous times. Just recently she received an ABA Presidential Appointment to the Standing Committee on Lawyers' Professional Liability. She previously served with the ABA as Chair of the Professional Liability, Director and Officer and Emerging Issues Committees. Ms. Randall was appointed to serve on the Board of Civil Trial Certification by the NJ Supreme Court Chief Justice. Ms. Randall is a leader in the New Jersey State Bar Association where she served as Chair of the Insurance Benefits Committee and on the Malpractice Committee. As a member of the Bergen County Bar Association, she was appointed to the prestigious Judicial Performance Committee. Randall serves on the DRI Professional Liability Steering Committee. Recently, she was selected to serve as the NE Regional Chair in addition to the NJ State Chair for Council on Litigation Management.
Randall served as Chair of the Professional Liability Practice Group Leadership Committee at USLAW NETWORK for two years. Randall presently serves on the USLAW Women’s Collection Group Steering Committee.
Ms.Randall was selected by the New Jersey Law Journal as a Prominent Leader Among Women and Minority Attorneys in New Jersey.
Ms. Randall was selected by her professional colleagues as a New Jersey Super Lawyer repeatedly. Most notable, Ms. Randall was named a Top 50 Female Super Lawyer in New Jersey. She has been selected as a Best 50 Women in Business in NJ by NJBIZ and a Woman Leader in the Law. Ms Randall was selected as a National Finalist for Litigation Professional of the Year by Council on Litigation Management.
Ms. Randall has lectured and written extensively on cyber/social media issues, professional liability and director and officer issues ranging from risk management to defense and coverage issues. Ms. Randall has demonstrated dedication to adhering to the highest standards of the legal profession and business community.
