The USLAW NETWORK Future Leaders Courtroom Academy will address the ins and outs of direct and cross-examination, with a focus on expert witnesses from our partners at S-E-A, USLAW’s official technical forensic engineering and legal visualization services partner. The two-day Academy – all of which will be hosted online via Zoom from locations around the NETWORK - offers programming designed by and for future leaders and will give attendees an opportunity to learn strategies for witness examination from both the attorney and witness perspectives. While the Academy will be virtual, the program has been designed to ensure ample networking and interaction among attendees.
DAY ONE is all about tips and tricks of the trade from S-E-A’s team of capable and experienced experts. Virtual attendees of this program (geared to the next generation of USLAW leaders) will hear from four experts on the importance of understanding the role of biomechanics in a personal injury case, the expert’s approach to preparing reports and withstanding Daubert challenges, technical tools available for experts to use as or with other demonstratives at trial, and basic principles of accident reconstruction. Each session will be moderated by a member of USLAW’s Future Leaders team and feature the great trial resources offered by S-E-A.
DAY TWO is about putting the information and resources from Day One to work. We will begin with a mock examination of an expert conducted by an experienced litigator and leader within USLAW. The examination will be followed by a breakout session where attendees will participate in smaller Zoom groups with a senior attorney selected from USLAW’s ranks of experienced trial attorneys. The senior attorney will moderate a conversation about the use of experts at trial.
